Saturday - Escaflowne Day

Song of the Day: "Sobakasu" - Judy & Mary and "Mystic Eyes" - Escaflowne
Quote of the Day: "Where's Dryden?!"

Poor Dryden. Not just in the TV series, either (although I feel sorry for the Anime Dryden too). Our real-life Dryden (Gideon of SDF-O) lost his wig. *_*;;

Saturday morning was a good one. I was excited about Escaflowne Day, since Esca-Cosplay is usually the most fun. Probably because we always seem to meet new people. I showered and put on Millerna. Liz put on Hitomi. Now all we needed were Escaflowne Boys. We took tons of pictures of me with the blonde hair (which is really frightening) and I forgot my gloves. >_< I actually bought new gloves this time, but I need to find longer ones, like my original pair.. and preferably ones that aren't as shiny.

Liz and I had agreed, on Friday, to work at the Anime Pavillion booth for an hour or so Saturday, as a sort of job-interview. In all truth, why we agreed to it probably has something to do with our desire to work in an anime store. So anyhow, we went to work at 10, ended up stuck until 11:45, and didn't really enjoy the experience. While it was sort of fun being able to answer people's questions about manga (ie, "how many are in the whole set of Angel Sanctuary?" --20, if you're wondering--), I realized that cons are really my vacation time. I don't wanna be stuck working. We did get paid for our short time there, and we got employee discounts at that booth.

Around noon, we found our Van (Vilay) wondering around. We also ran into Van (Van Donavan) who agreed to put on her Folken costume for the group later. We went to lunch with James and Zach and when we returned, Van was in her Folken gear. Photo ops abound. We ran into Gideon, who promised to be Dryden later.

The rest of the afternoon, we just walked in circles, and took pictures, and collected Van Fanels. ^_~ Despite the number of Vans, there were no Allens in sight. Poor Millerna. (Damn it, just once, I want an Allen to glomp! At least there was Dryden, but... ) Poor James was with us and was stuck being our camera man. (Thanks James!)

When Gideon told us he'd lost his wig, we told him not to worry about it. We all hope he finds it (that's a damn cool wig!) It was pretty late in the afternoon, and my wig was starting to hurt my head. Liz, Vilay, and I decided to go change. *sniff* Escaflowne Day came to an end.

I put on my bad Ceres costume. Liz wore Sakura, and Vilay changed back to his ever popular Aoshi. We went to the music video contest for about 20 minutes and then decided to go get good masquerade seats. We sat in the third row to the back, but by the time the show started, we were kicking ourselves for not sitting in front. Why is it that tall people always sit right in front of the short people?

The Masquerade was very fun to watch. Lots of cool skits (Kaitou Jeanne!! Corrector Yui!) and lots of cool costumes. Then Sailor Jamboree did a special presentation to the song "Set Me Free" from Transylvania no Mori, my favorite SeraMyu (so I was quite thrilled). After that, a guy named Rob, with the aid of Dieter, went to great lengths to keep the audience entertained. He did "Stupid Rob Tricks" and jumped into the pool. Dieter read a list of Things Overheard at Ani-Magic. It was the best way to kill time during a judging I'd ever seen.

After the masquerade, several people went to a dance. Lacking the all-night karaoke room, I was at a loss of what to do. I ended up going back to the room, watched a little Fushigi Yugi on my computer, and then went to bed not long after that. For some reason, I get depressed at cons at night. No idea why.
